Strategic Projects & Finance Transformation

Support for the decisions you’ll look back on and pinpoint as the moment that changed everything!

This is the big-picture, roll-up-our-sleeves, make-it-happen work

What this is

When there's something specific to tackle, whether you’re going for a funding round, a bold pivot, restructuring so your operations actually match your mission, expanding into new markets or recovering after a setback. We can work on and implement a financial and strategic plan that lets you sleep at night and makes you impatient to get going in the morning.

Who's it for

For founders, boards, leadership teams, and change-makers who

  • are standing at a crossroads and know the choice will ripple for years
  • want their plan to feel as solid as it looks
  • need to bring their whole team (and stakeholders) along for the ride
  • value impact and integrity just as much as results

How it works

As part of the project, we’ll explore all of the “what ifs” and “how abouts”. We’ll model the scenarios, map the milestones, and dig into the numbers, building budgets, forecasts, business plans and cash projections that bring your goals to life.

And we’ll do all of it without ever forgetting that actual, real-life human beings will be operating them. That means factoring in energy, capacity, trust, burnout cycles, hyper-focus bursts, board politics, and even the full moon if it matters to you!

Pricing Guide:

Fees depend on the scope and specifics of the project. As a guide, something like a 12–24 month forecast and planning process starts at £3,500 + VAT. Larger or multi-year projects - like a full financial restructure, funding strategy, or finance transformation - will be more, and we'll scope that out together.

For project-based or ad-hoc work, my time-based rates are £200 + VAT per hour, £700 + VAT for a half day, or £1,100 + VAT for a full day.

Not-for-profits get 25% off. Book a call and we'll work out exactly what fits.

The results

Where there’s currently uncertainty, imagine crystal-clear clarity

A roadmap you believe in (and actually want to use).

The risks, opportunities, and trade-offs, calculated and factored in.

Your next big move resourced — not just dreamt about.

The confidence to take action with room to flex as you go.

Proof to yourself (and anyone watching) that your way works

Why this is different

It’s not about being “big enough” — it’s about being important enough to get right

Whether you’re a start-up gearing up for your first raise, a non-profit setting a new three-year strategy with your board, or a £10m+ organisation exploring new directions, you need a strategy and execution that’ll get you to your next stage (and beyond).

FAQs

Book a call. We’ll scope the project together — the decisions on the table, the challenges, and the outcomes you want. From there, I’ll draft a tailored proposal that we refine together, so you know exactly how the process will work and what you’ll have in hand at the end.

Partnerships are ongoing, steady support. Strategic Projects are more focused and time-bound, with a clear scope and end-point — though many clients decide to continue into a CFO partnership once they see the difference it makes.

I’m there from start to finish — helping you move from big idea to lived reality. That includes:

  • Facilitation — holding space for founders, boards, or leadership teams so the right conversations actually happen (and don’t get stuck in politics, overwhelm, or avoidance).
  • Financial strategy — modelling scenarios, building budgets, mapping milestones, and stress-testing assumptions so you know what’s viable.
  • Consultancy and advice — bringing a wealth of knowledge from across industries (tech, creative, retail, not-for-profit, consultancy, wellness, and more) to help you navigate ambiguity, spot risks, and draw on what’s worked elsewhere.
  • Implementation support — staying alongside you as the plan unfolds, so decisions don’t stall and the work doesn’t gather dust.

My role is to hold the thread. I keep the process moving, the people engaged, and the plan properly resourced — so you’re not just making a decision, you’re following through on it with confidence.

No. I’ve supported early-stage start-ups gearing up for their first raise, not-for-profits and ‘life style’’ businesses reworking or implemeting change and strategy with their board, and multi-division businesses making multi-million-pound shifts. It’s not about size — it’s about the decision being critical enough to get right.

Funding rounds, pivots, restructures, expansions, or recovery plans — the kind of decisions that change the shape of your organisation. If the choice feels too important to wing, it counts. Or even if its just time for a ‘grown up’ approach and review as you level up.

It’s collaborative — and designed to be a blessing, not a burden. Most of my partnerships are a mix of structured CFO/strategy sessions, ad-hoc advice, and async support an pep talks. We don’t get lost in endless email chains (unless you love them). Instead, we use what works for you and your team — Slack, WhatsApp, DMs, Loom videos, diagrams, or checklists.

The point is that information doesn’t get stuck; it’s shared in ways that actually feel usable and neuro-friendly.

Most of my work is remote, which means I can support clients across the UK and internationally. For overseas clients, I don’t handle local filings, but I do advise on systems, structures, budgets, commercial planning, and performance.

What matters isn’t where you’re based — it’s what you’re building.

We engaged with Harriet to supplement our statutory accountant services with FD Services. We had been struggling to resource these sort of services internally or with our existing accountant, and it was a breath of fresh air to be able to simply add it on, on a flexible basis.

Harriet helped to devise a creative legitimate solution to our revenue recognition problem, as well as help us with optimisation of our finance software. We implemented Transferwise with her help and also applied for 2 successful grants.

I'd recommend engaging with BTLF if you are a small business looking for extra support above and beyond simple Tax requirements, especially if you don't have an FD appointed in-house. Harriet is productive, collaborative and has really useful ideas.

When I set up my CIC, I knew one of my biggest knowledge gaps was around finance. After speaking with several accountants, it became clear that I didn't just want someone to file paperwork - I wanted to learn alongside someone. Speaking with Harriet confirmed that what I really needed was a partner: someone who understood CICs and social enterprises.

The biggest shift has been in my confidence. Having regular catch-ups with Harriet - and knowing she's always on hand for any questions has made me feel so much more grounded and supported. My CIC has gone from feeling financially uncertain to becoming much more stable and resilient.

Harriet's patience - especially with my occasional panic around money - has made a huge difference. She's incredibly generous with her time and makes things clear and easy to understand. It's rare to find someone who combines technical skill with such a supportive, relational approach.

Before working with Harriet, we wanted to remove the mystery around our finances and be clear where we were at and map out a forecast for the future and change our company structure.

Since working with Harriet, I became Co-Director! We split shares in the company and agreed on a memorandum of understanding for all eventualities. We now have a clear financial plan, and know how much money we need to bring in and by when. We have payroll and dividends worked out and have hit our targets.

What stands out about working with Harriet is that she doesn't use jargon or speak from a script - there's no gatekeeping. She explains things in an accessible way and has a can-do attitude, so it really feels like she is invested in our success. We now feel held and in control when it comes to our finances, and Harriet's accountant-meets-coach style has helped us shift our mindset to one of empowerment rather than avoidance.

We recommend Harriet to everyone!

"I wanted to feel safer with my finances and not so dysregulated around key milestones — and working with Harriet is exactly that. She is there to reassure me when I get in a tailspin; calming, reassuring, clearly super knowledgeable, and she keeps everything in order.

Her sensitivity to working in a brain-first way, and with those who may have neurodivergence, really stood out. I have recommended Harriet to a number of people."

Before working with Harriet, we were hoping to gain a better understanding of our business finances and achieve financial clarity to allow us to make changes to the business. Since we started working together, we have much greater confidence in making financial decisions.

What stands out about working with Harriet is that she provides pragmatic and helpful advice in a clear and straightforward format.

As a business owner who does not have a financial background, Harriet takes the time to provide useful and structured guidance to allow us to make effective decisions.
